Recycling and Resource Recovery

1. Tiny grains of styrene are expanded using steam. The expanded beads are then moulded into shapes or large blocks depending on the application.

2. EPS is widely used in packaging applications for the transport of produce, seafood and fragile items.

3. EPS is collected at the Collection Centres located in each mainland capital city of Australia.

4. The EPS is granulated and stored in a hopper before being compacted.

5. The compacted EPS is melted, pelletised and converted into General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS)

6. Products made using recycled EPS include cd and video cassette cases, coat hangers and synthetic timber.
